Barely Civil Society newsletter is an irreverent and disruptive take on charity and philanthropy. Avowedly left wing, socialist and progressive, BCS is out to reclaim nonprofits for real social and democratic change.

It takes a deeper, more critical look at the work of philanthropy and nonprofits, and asks some provocative questions, with a satirical sense of humour. BCS also deals with wider national and international politics - because we have to.

It’s time to disrupt the cosy myths of the nonprofit and philanthropy sphere. We’re here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And we’re all out of unrestricted funding. (We’re fine for bubblegum, thanks.)
